09 SepReview: Vikings Week 1

The biggest question mark of the game and clearly the season is Christian Ponder. Ponder being 18 of 28 for 236 yards with 1 TD and 3 INT against what I saw a pretty bad Detroit Lions team is just not good enough. He does not look good and after 3 years in this system, being the 12th overall pick in the draft, and coming from a college power in FSU, Ponder should not look this bad.

Being a huge Minnesota Vikings fan and after listening to a lot of sports talk radio after the game the most talked about topic is Christian Ponder.

If the Vikings are going to be successful Ponder better perform better and there are no excuses this year. Ponder needs to make the throws, give AP the ball so he doesn’t fumble and don’t make stupid throws that lead to an INT.

The Vikings offense did not look good. The 78 yard run from AP was awesome but when he averages less than 1 yard for the game it’s not good. If you missed the call from Paul Allen take a listen. But once again if Ponder can’t pass the ball to his receivers, who are good this year, then the Vikings are in trouble.

There isn’t much optimism to take away from this game but here is what I think. Ponder needs to play and we can’t go to Matt Cassel. The organization has invested too much to put Ponder on the bench. But this is definitely his last year if he doesn’t turn it around. Here it is, PLAY PONDER no matter what. If we start 0-4 it doesn’t matter anyway, PLAY PONDER!

Bring on the Bears! Can’t wait for week 2.

Bears will take Vikes. Ponder is never allowed to air it out. Even if he did he has no accuracy. Teams will key on AP, knowing Ponder’s passing is miserable. This will be Frazier’s last year after a 5-11 season.

Gene I believe you are on to something. The Bears have a new coaching staff and they looked good against a good Bengals team. Frazier could be out. The GM I’m sure will get rid of him before the Wilfs get rid of him.

Ponder’s problem is and will be all season is that even tho he has talent he is not consistant. I’d toss him out now.
